Royal Order of the Sword [Kungliga Svärdsrorden]. 1st model (with a small royal crown - 1748-1772), knight's cross, gold engraved, enameled, 16.0 g, cracks in the enamel and chipped off in the white and blue enamel of the obverse and lapel, without ribbon. ZK2 3411. RRR II-III / III
Production probably around 1750. Copies of the 1st model are extremely rare. On February 23, 1748, King Fredrik I of Sweden (from the House of Hessen-Kassel) founded the initially two-class (commander and knight) order together with the Royal Seraphim Order and the Royal Wasa Order. 1772 reorganized King Gustav III. the order by donating a Grand Cross (the holders of this class were called Commander with Grand Cross). In 1788 he founded the class of knights with the great cross 1st class of the Order of the Sword (knight's cross on the neck with an upright sword on the left breast), which was established by King Karl XIII. In 1814 the class of knights with the Great Cross of the Order of the Sword (knight's cross on the neck with crossed swords on the left breast) was expanded. On June 26, 1850, King Oscar I donated the affiliated sword mark and the affiliated sword medal for NCOs and men. In May 1875, Kaiser Wilhelm I was awarded a gold sword medal by King Oscar II, which was also donated in 1860, but was only awarded once, to Kaiser Wilhelm I (see EV p. 104f). King Carl XV donated a breast star to the commander in 1860 and on the occasion of his coronation King Oscar II divided the commanders into commanders 1st class (with breast star) and commanders 2nd class (without breast star, called commander from 1952), the latter until September 25th 1889 was reserved for foreigners. As early as 1871, the breast stars embroidered up to then had been officially converted into metal stars, the arm surfaces of which were brilliant until 1919, scaled from 1919 to 1951 and smooth since then. With the new status of November 25, 1889, the knight class was also divided into first class knights and second class knights (called knights from 1952), the latter also initially only being reserved for foreigners. In 1896 the sword sign without swords was donated by King Oscar II. On March 22, 1952, King Gustav VI. Adolf new statutes, with which a three-class affiliated war cross of the Order of the Sword was donated for times of war. By resolution of the Swedish Diet of June 6, 1973, the award of the Order of the Sword was generally suspended with effect from January 1, 1975.

Tis Knight looks similar to others, but there is a clear difference. At the bottom of the crown there is an oval area that for some has hole, some has a slanted lines, some are just plain and this one has small dots covering the area.  You also see that this is missing the balls on the main arms.
