Order of the Star
A complete set of the 1st Class, as operated by King Muhammad Zahir Shah after his accession to the throne in 1933, following the Order’s reformation into more classes. The sash badge is an openwork appendant featuring a silver, faceted, five-pointed star within a stylised wheat wreath. It measures 50 x 44 mm, weighs approximately 32 g, and has a round upper loop and an oval suspension ring. It comes with the original sash ribbon. The breast star is 90 mm in diameter, made of gold and weighs 120 g. It has polished rays and a centre medallion in gold bearing the coat of arms of the Afghan Kingdom in silver within an outer circlet bearing an inscription in Arabic script. The reverse is struck with a gold mark and fitted with a vertical pin.
This is a beautifully made, very rare set in excellent condition.

The Order of the Leader (Nishan-i-Sardari)
Second Class Star. Breast star, 81 mm, silvered with a partially gilt superimposed part, with a long vertical pin. Founded by King Amanullah in 1923.
